Two secrets about winning video awards. 1) It’s not as hard as you’d think, and 2) it’s still a lot of fun.
We recently picked up two awards and an Honorable Mention in the 2017 dotCOMM awards, an international competition honoring excellence in web creativity and digital communication, administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).
Links to the newest “Award Winning Videos” in our collection are below.
It’s fun to talk about on social media, it’s fun to share with the creative team that worked so hard, it’s fun to tell the client they now have the value-add of an “award winning video” to edit into the description text on YouTube or Vimeo if they like. It’s nice to create a little buzz bump, maybe squeeze out a couple more views.
And then you stack the trophies up and move on to the next one. We’ve earned almost 70 awards since we started in 2004. We could have earned more, but it’s not about the numbers, and it’s not even always about pride, or craft. It’s about the strategy.
Which clients will benefit from having an “award winning video,” and in what category? What clients do we want to remind people we’ve done work for? What new tools or techniques are we using and wanting to highlight? Is there a new partnership where it would be cool to win an award together (sorry, Seenit, we entered the crowdsourced SeaPerch videos, but they didn’t win… this time…)?
In short, which awards will help us get where we’re trying to go? Sometimes it’s for recognition, but more often it’s for relationship building.
We judge success by the how well we help our clients meet their strategic goals. But there’s no denying trophies are fun. If you want to win one for video, let’s chat. We can do that.
