How We Roll: A Results-Driven Video Production Process
We believe storytelling is and will always be at the heart of video. We also know that video is made better by first taking a results-driven (and less traditional) approach. At 5:00 Films & Media, our video planning process consists of three phases:
Working tirelessly, our team has spent decades refining this process, leading us to a powerful result: producing high-quality videos that capture audiences and drive action.
Phase 1: Design
A contractor wouldn’t build a house without a blueprint, seems obvious. However, many video production companies produce video without having a plan or an end goal. At 5:00 Films & Media, we do things a bit differently. We take the steps needed to create a solid plan before ever pressing record.
The first step in our design phase is Discovery. It’s where we not only ask all the important questions, but where we listen unequivocally so we fully understand your unique needs and the message you want to convey. We discuss everything from your big picture goals, the people that matter most to you or your company, and the potential outlets that might suit your audience(s) best.
Concept & Budget
Together, we get to the bottom of what makes you; your story. We talk about what’s important—including budget. And while budget talk can make some feel a little uneasy, we can assure you that we understand that everyone has a budget. With a concept in mind, we ask ourselves, “What is the minimum budget to achieve success?” Then we ask, “What is the most effective possible solution and how much would that cost?” From there, we’ll meet you in the middle, based on your budget.
You may have heard the saying “a goal without a plan is just a wish,” and we couldn’t agree more. Sure, some projects require more planning than others, but all projects need (and deserve) a plan. At 5:00 Films, we work hard to produce videos that are attractive and made with good taste. To achieve this, we get the key components of pre-production right:
Whether you have a story that you’ve dreamt up for some time or you need it produced from scratch, we’re happy to help with content development. To understand exactly what resonates with your audience, we’ll work closely with your subject matter experts. Then, our creative team will apply their expertise and we’ll provide you with a quick turnaround of the first script or storyboard draft, making revisions until we reach an agreed upon final version.
If you’re looking for the right cast or the perfect location for your video, we can help you get there. Simply let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll make it happen. We have a large network of talent management resources ready to tap into from onscreen actors to voiceovers.
We take the time to strategically plan everything from crew schedules to which props and costumes we will need, when we’ll need them and where. We are obsessed with perfecting the logistics and scheduling because it not only makes everything run seamlessly– it helps reduce and keep down the overall cost. What many people don’t know is that it’s not the length of the video that drives cost, but the amount of days it takes to produce a video; just think of all the people and cameras needed. The way we tackle logistics and scheduling can save you thousands.
Phase 2: Build
Our second phase of our video planning process, Build, is where all of the time we spent conceptualizing, planning and preparing culminates into something tangible and special.
Video production is the process of taking an idea and translating it into an actual video. At 5:00 Films & Media, we use top-of-the line equipment with high-definition cameras to capture everything from interviews to motion graphics. When shooting, we consider every detail to enhance the finished product, whether it’s ensuring the audio and lighting are expertly set or capturing B-roll for supplementary footage.
This step is where we collect all of t your project’s assets and transform them into a work of art. In post-production, we take care of key edits such as color and sound correction, and add music or sound effects to intensify the emotion your video is aiming to convey. As your partner, we provide you with the opportunity to review and approve the work we create for you.
Phase 3: Deliver
With a final video in our hands we put our plan into motion and deliver it to the appropriate audience or audiences, depending on the project.
After all the work that goes into your video, distribution is key. While many of our competitors simply package up your work and send it to you, we leverage our resources to ensure your content is distributed effectively.
Whether it’s choosing a host site, adding an impactful title and description that is optimized for search, or sharing it across relevant channels including social media– we give you you the tools you need to amplify your video’s visibility. Although it may not be in your budget, we discuss the importance of crowdsourcing, audience collaboration, hyper-targeted digital ads, contextual advertising and other paid outreach that can do wonders to enhance your engagement ten-fold.
Measurement and Reporting
The minute your video is distributed, it’s time to begin measuring results. By monitoring and reporting on metrics like views, likes, shares, and mentions, we can see if the video is reaching your ideal target the way we want. Through A/B testing, we can determine what’s resonating with your audience– and what needs to be said differently. We don’t just tell you what to do; we offer training, support and collaboration that give you the power to jump in the driver’s seat.
